To the Class of 2012

As another school year draws to a close and classic rock stations blare Alice Cooper (seriously does that song ever get played in September?), we are reminded quite plainly of the potential of youth.  Not what they are doing, but what they are going to do.  So we try to celebrate – to reward them for moving to the next phase of life.  “Gifts for Grads” become ubiquitous in all major retail stores and even appear at the corner gas station.  That’s right, get Johnny a card, put a twenty in it, and send him off into the writhing sea that is the future, after all twenty bucks should cover it.

I think I speak for most children when I say, “Older generation, you have really been screwing the pooch for sometime now.  Don’t you think you should stop?”  Economic breakdown, riots, energy crisis, catastrophic pollution, and America’s Got Talent is back.  Oh yeah and Ke$ha – she’s terrible.  Things are bleak.

But the future for all of us lies in the dreams, aspirations, and achievements of this upcoming generation.  So to the class of “2012,” (metaphorically, not just 10th graders, but everyone) I ask, “What would you do if we really only had two years left?”

The heart of Rock ‘N’ Roll is still beating and it uses LipitorI imagine one of two scenarios would play out.  1) Massive, drug-induced Toga Party/Orgy or 2) We’d actually see the world start to get a little better.  After all, Martin Luther King Jr, probably said it best, “Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.”  I encourage creativity and altruism.  I think about serving the “We” more than myself.  If we actually only had two years left, we could take the risks we want to take, we could make the peace we need to make, and we could find the solutions we need, because time was really a factor.  Also Huey Lewis and the News will have time to finish their upcoming album.

So to the class of 2012, treat this summer as if it is one of your last.  Make a difference.  And something about “wear sunscreen.”

ahhh….i know what you mean. I just got out of tenth grade. Me and two of my closet buddies are working our asses off for money. Buying an asortment of knives, an axe, shovel, BOLT CUTTERS, and other things. One of my friends is a weapons expert, skilled in sword fighting(uses a machete though), can throw knives pretty accurately, and can also hit targets(hmmm) up to 500 yards with a scoped hunting rifle. On the other hand my other friend is a dam genious, Straight A’s all the way through school, and was taking senior level classes last year. But alas comes the reason i made this post. I dont really know where i fit in our group, i mean with Mr.Commando and Albert Jr. i really feel kinda lost. If anyone could help me i would appriciate it.
